Future goals

Above is a mood board showing a few of my times for the future.
- typography- typography is a great interest in mine, i love to experiment with typefaces and change them to completely change with look and meaning, and want to develop this into creating my own in the future.
sagmeister and walsh - it would be my dream to work with them and or for them as they create very influential pieces of art work using type and have been my idols for many years.
- london and new york - In the future i would like to have worked in both of these cities as i think that they would be very influential on my design work as there is always a lot going on creatively, culturally and socially in both of these cities.
- the world - similarly to london and new york i would like to start to travel the world, as i think looking at designers and art world from different countries in person and experiencing the culture will help to develop and improve my work as i would have a range of influences that i have experience not just found on the internet.
- Branding - i would like to have a go at pursuing branding as a career, has it is a great interest and passion of mine, create identify and meaning to a symbol that represents a person/company, although this is a passion i still have a lot to learn and develop on.
- Design studio - It is an ambition of mine to in the future have my own design company that has a relaxed and playful environment as i believe working in an environment that is restricted limits your creativity and restrict the success of your work.
- creative director - expanding on having my own studio i would love to be the creative director of a company before owning my own design studio. I would like to work my way up all the possible rolls so that i have gained as much knowledge and understanding of the industry as i can so that it wi;l help me when creating my own studio.

a few personal goals no related to career
- i would like to own my own apartment and be able to design the interior, i have an interest in interior design so it would be a fun project to take on also rewarding in the end as i would have a place for myself that would be perfect as i had design it.
- In the future i would love to have a Pug, how many years i have loved looking at picture and videos of pugs are i think they are adorable with how happy they always are, in a strange way they are that ugly with all the wrinkles it makes them cute.

Study task 2 - Why am I here - What do I want to learn?

identify and explain 5 reasons why you chose to study on this course
  • i loved going to college at lca and the way they work so decided i wanted to do my degree with them as the college is familiar so i knew i would settle in quicker
  • it is close to home for regular visits
  • personally i thought the colleges resources were the best of all the other courses
  • I thought that lac would give me the best start to my future as a designer as i had hear of how successful the course was
  • Seeing work of previous years had produced made me want to study on this course because the projects looked engaging and also made me starve to want to learn how to create work of that standard
Identify and explain 5 things that you want to learn during your time on the course
  • how to use illustrator to a higher standard
  • how create a professional screen print
  • learn how to use indesign
  • how use the letter press to set type
  • publication design
Identify and explain 5 things that you think are your strengths
  • I  have been using photoshop, for about 3 years now and how again enough experience to produce work to a high standard
  • I have bound a few books before that have been successful and would consider bookbinding as a skill i am good at but would like to learn more about
  • When given a brief i like creating a wide range of ideas so that i have plenty of ideas to work with and possibly develop, this make my work stronger than it would be if i just had one.
  • i would consider screen printing as one of my strengths as i successfully created a 3 colour print and managed to perfectly line up the design.
  • I would consider one of my strengths to be communication, i am a good communicator with others as i listen to their ideas and also make people feel like they can talk to me about things.
Identify and explain 5 things you would like to improve
  • i would like to improve my book binding skills
  • i would like to improve my photoshop skills so that they were at an almost professional standard
  • I would like the improve my essay writing skills, as i am unsure on hoot harvord reference and also how so add in quotes and link them to my writing.
  • I would like to improve my skill on illustrator and indesign as i have a very basic knowledge on this software and think it would benefit me knowing these for the  future.
  • i would also like to improve my time planning skills as i and worried about getting behind on all the projects and deadlines that are to me this year
Identify and explain 5 things that inspire you
  • Architecture - Since i was very young i loved architecture and wanted be an architect myself, but it didn't turn out that way, but my love for it is still strong. One of my favourite blogs for getting my fix of architecture is http://archidose.blogspot.co.uk  this blog shows interesting buildings from around the world. My work is loosely inspired by architecture as you can get some interesting shapes from them that are usually geometric, a style that i have a great interest in.
  • Current advertisements - these are great inspiration as they get me thinking about how i interest with them, and what in the advert has made me think something or go ahead and do something. Things like this influence how i work as it makes me more aware of my audience and consider how they are going to interest with my work.
  • Interior design and self projects - I recently came across a website called http://karapaslaydesigns.com  while searching for inspiration for my paisley designs. I love self projects creating new thing from old and this website shows you how she made beautiful things for her interior designs, as well as inspiration for designs for your home.
  • Sagmeisters and Walsh - Always has and always will love his design work, Its abstract style, use of bright colour and shapes in his work has always had me interested and inspired me to play a lot more with colour than i usually would. His playfulness when using and creating type has me mesmerised as its completely different to other peoples work with type.
  • Tumblr - Ive had tumblr a fair few years now but recently i have changed how i interest with it. i found that its a great place to look at other peoples designs and different styles of work, not just nice clothes and cute animals. here are a few blogs that are more favourite http://nyctype.co         http://michalva.tumblr.com          http://graphicdesignandtattoos.com

Time planning

In lesson today we were discussing the importance of time planing and how it can help with having more time to do things you like to do outside of working and also stopping you from getting stuck on your designs.Time planning is also important as without it important events and deadlines may be missed or over looked. From these discussion it inspired me to create a more organised way of paladin my time so that i could fit in the weekly pub quiz as well as meeting deadlines.
A few methods that were discussed were creating checklists for things you need to get done per week and signing a past per day, downloading a app that you can schedule your time in, or creating your own. For the next will i will experiment using a few method seeing which work the best for me.

later in the week

Here are two methods that i preferred -

creating a week plan on my notice board, for each day of the week i have a signed a task that i need doing that week, or i have slip two tasks in half and spread them over two days, When each task is complete i removed it from the board.

Creating a schedule for all the time i have left on a project planning a head of what i think i should do when and also when i have time to relax.

Both these methods improved my productivity, my proffered method was the notice board method as it was simple and didn't overwhelm me with what i had to do, it also allowed me to have free time as soon as i had completed the set task for the day. Although the larger timetable of tasks over a few weeks was overwhelming it had its befits as i could see clearly when my deadline was and showed me making progress each day as i got closer to it.
