'This Land' Exhibition

I recently went to Colours May Vary to see the exhibition called This Land which was a year-long photography project by Peter Byrne in which documented the American West focusing on contemporary cowboys and the landscape surrounding them. I found this photography exhibition interesting because when you think of cowboys you generally think of the western film genre and gunslingers but the photography exhibition showcased them in a different light as the contemporary cowboy is nothing more than a farmer. I found this exhibition interesting when relating it to my practice because the exhibition was a self-funded and self-launched project by Byrne and it was inspiring discovering different ways that a project can be appropriated into different formats.
