Level 4 and university experience

What i found challenging in first was time planning, i wasn't good at keeping on top of my blogging. I managed to to the work and keep on top of that but i neglected my blogs, this made it difficult when it came to putting my submission together. I also found it challenging to put together design boards as i always included took much information and in feedback it was mentioned that i needed to only put the essentials. In first year i learnt how to work with typography but only the basics, as well as the basics of indesign ad illustrator.

In second year i want to confront what i found challenging and try to improve it by keeping on top of my blogging as well as limit my design boards to only the needed detail. This year i would also like to expand on my typography skills as well as work on a promotional brief to improve my design communication skills.

interesting design 2

Below is a collection of geometric patterns that i came across on Pinterest and found very inspirational they are in a similar style of my old geometric drawings that i used to do when i started with my geometric theme. These designs have inspired my to go back to purely working with shape to create a patter instead of animals which is my recent interest to draw in a geometric style.

Interesting design

Below are images of an interesting piece of design that i spotted on Pinterest. I found this design interesting as it a new take on the packaging of pizza. the design separates the pieces and gives them their own box per slice, the end of the box pulls off allowing you to hold the pizza without getting your hand covered in pizza. This design is great as the box pieces fit together and can be  whole pizza or just a single slice. I think that this design would be best applied to pizza shops that sell to people buying per slice instead of whole pizzas as it would not good on the environment all the packaging for every slice but can be justified if they are being sold separately. The design is also a good piece of graphic design as the imagery on the box is minimalist and also very heavenly influences by graphic design itself.  The box looks very inviting and would reflect the content if it was used for an upmarket pizza shop and not your average takeaway.

Final designs printed

Above of images of my final screen printed designs. I am very happy with the out come of my final designs as they have the personal touch with them being hand printed and the books hand bound. This was important to my design as most of my work is created digitally at the moment, i wanted to show how flexible my work can be and how it can be applied to different things, because in the future i would like to develop my work into more screen prints.

Presentation research

Before designing the layout of my presentation i thought it would be helpful to research creative presentation so that i had idea of the design of lies that were interesting so that i didn't loose the attention of my audience. Below are two examples of presentation slides that i thought were interestingly laid out and designed.

The two presentation have two completely different styles, the first used a lot of imagery and constantly kept the red triangle on the slides creating a link and constant theme throughout the presentation, the images were large so very visible and also put in creative compassion. The slides were never full of text and when text was involved it was a good legible size which is important it there is text on a slide giving important information.
The second presentation had a nice bright white background thought the presentation with a fades image of the world in grey. the prevention did have large amounts of text at times but t was at a readable size. The presentation included a lot of charts but there were done in and interesting why in which didn't overwhelm the viewer.

Out of the two presentation it think that first was the most successful as its imagery was engaging as well as its small amounts of text, allowing the presenter to talk and explain what the viewer was seeing. This is the style of presentation that i want to try produce.

Another presentation i looked at was sagmeisters presentation about being happy and creating design.
In the presentation he shares experiences that he has had and also his inspiration. Through out the presentation sagmesiter uses humour to engage the viewer and relate to them. This works well as they feel like they an relate to him by listening to his experiences and laughing with him at them.
