The above article/infographics are great knowledge into knowing what design techniques will be prominent and unique during this year, it provides a great insight into what work will do well in different styles and what medias will be especially popular. This knowledge is all useful in designing my work to achieve the most eye catching and unique work to stand out above other practitioners work.

This article was interesting to read as this year i wanted to work on my typography skills. i found that it was a good guid to keep in mind as it states the common mistakes that designers should not make. After reading this article i think that i will help me improve my typography skills, as well as being a good reference.

A illustrator and graphic designer named Cassandra Calin recently created a comic strip segment for CollegeHumor in which she reflects upon various stages that most design students go through/feel during there studies, it is a very good representation of what students and is relevent as she has used here design to represent on how most students feel. I too can relate to the points that it is making as during my studies I have to noticed points that it is making.

Article: A Colourful, Pantone-Inspired Concept Packaging For Absolut Vodka

The above article is a Absolute Vodka rebrand by a studio called Txaber based in Spain, the rebrand consisted of a Pantone block colour on the bottle packaging to reflect the flavour of the Vodka. I found these designs to be a excellent branding take upon a minimalist style.  The use of colour is very bold and eye catching and if seen in a store all beside each other you would clearly be able to identify each flavour of the vodka meeting the purpose of the redesign, which is a really good design strategy for been eye catching and drawing attention to the bottle. I would like to be able to do a project that allows me to experiment with bold colours and branding in this style. This is also great inspiration for the use of colour for my YCN brief for the orchard pig. 

Article: Graphic Designer Builds Full Alphabet Inspired By Today's Biggest Social Issues

I found the above article interesting as it shows that you can gain inspiration from anything and anywhere. The designer has made a typeface that was inspired by social issues that are going on in the world which are cleverly reflected by each letter. The most interesting thing about this design is that it is still legible when used to write text. This cleaver design made me consider what i use as inspiration in my designs and how limited it usually is, most my designs are influenced by found imagery, feedback or my own ideas, which is ok, but is not as influential as issues that are evolving around use today. Although is is not always appropriate for a project i think it is important to my practice that i start to look for a wider range of inspiration.

The above article is a great insight into key points that will help you stand out from the crowd in the job market, the article touches upon having a unique and ever changing design portfolio that fits over multiple medias. Such as physical and digital portfolios such as Behance, Linkedin and your own personal website to show case not only your final pieces but your journey to the final pieces as many design agencies are looking at how you think and if they can easily integrate you into there team. And that the sooner we get our name out there the better as theres more time for our name to be seen.
When applying for a job it important that our CV is different for each job as no one job in design is the same and that it is important that we meet the criteria that the job requires, as the design studio has taken time to give insight into the kind of person they are looking for. It is also important in the CV to simply document the facts and more importantly the experience we have as the experience we have will allow us for 'one ups' against other candidates.
It is also crucial to be able to network and build a range of contacts weather its friends or just practitioners that you've met during visits to various things. These are important as they may prove vital during a project in which you require assistance with certain things.

After reading the article it has given me much to think about in ways to work and build upon my design practice during the summer holiday when I've got plenty of time too. I have only got Instagram because I'm quite shy about sharing my work, I've started a Behance but with Instagram I get a quick responce as I like the quick responce as it gives me instant response to my work and gives me instant confidence in the piece of work. I will also be attempting to build my own online website in order to build my own area on the web, as it is important to not rely on one website as the crucial web influences come and go.

As a task to improve presentation skills i was asked to make a short 90 seconds presentation of a film synopsis, The film i choose was the 2015 film home by dreamworks.

-      On the run from their enemy, the planet-destroying Gorg, the Boov find Earth a suitable place to call "home".

-      they undertake their "friendly" invasion of the planet, relocating the humans from one city

-      One of the Boov, named Oh accidentally sends a mass invite for his house warming party to every Boov on Earth. However, the "send all" button he pressed actually sends the invite to absolutely every alien race in the entire galaxy including the Gorg.

-      Boov are now scared that the gorgs now know that they are on earth

-      Oh dumps into a human girl name tip who was left behind when the boov removed the humans. Tip is angry and wants to find her mum and oh is scared as all the boov are now after him.

-      They both go on the run and oh helps tip to find her mum.

-      To find them oh turns tips mums car into a hover craft so that the can fly away.

-      Oh and tip then head for Australia where her mum is and were all the humans they removed from the city are.

-      They arrive safe in Australia after the worry of the boov chasing them

-      Tip rushes to find her mum

-      The mother and daughter finally find each other and thank oh for helping

-      The Gorg mothership descends upon the planet, and Oh realizes that they want the rock that the boovs captain had, seen as he has stolen it from them.

-      Oh holds up the rock to the gorgs commander

-      the gorg commander exits the ship and takes the rock

-      the rock actually contains millions of developing gorg eggs which were the last of the gorg kind

-      the gorg takes the rock and leaves in peace, and the humans are then returned.
